Meet Weebu...

Sorry for taking so long to post this announcement, but I've been a tad distracted, as I'm sure you can understand. *wink*

Meet Oliver Thomas, born at home on July 6th. His birth went smoothly and without complications, despite being very long and hard. Unfortunately, there were some issues before and afterwards (both related and unrelated to the birth). I'll work on writing out an official birth story, but in the meantime, rest assured that everyone is doing just fine. It was just wasn't near as peaceful as I had hoped it would have been.

He weighed in at 7 pounds, 5 ounces, making him my biggest baby. (Abbie and Isaiah were 6#14oz, and 6#10oz). 20 inches long. He definitely looks a lot more like Abbie did as a newborn, but I can see resemblances from both siblings.

Anyways, someone's getting hungry, so without further ado, here's Ollie!

Life after 40 weeks...

Happy 4th of July, everyone!

Today is also another significant day- the day after my due date. Yes folks, I'm living proof that your uterus does NOT explode or turn into a pumpkin if you go past your "due date". Babies do not have expiration dates, and some just need a little more time to cook.

While Isaiah was born right on his guess date, Abbie was a whole 7 days late. Fortunately, despite her being my first baby and me being under the care of a very mainstream OB, I still had the intuition to wait it out. I'm so glad I didn't, as she was still only 6# 14oz. I shudder to think how tiny she would have been if some induction-happy doctor convinced me to be induce at 37 or 38 weeks.

The midwives are very supportive of going post-date, as long as me and Weebu are doing well. And we are. At my last appointment, BP was great, Weebu's heart tones sounded perfect, measuring around 37 weeks (about the same as both Abbie and Isaiah when they were born). S/he's in a ROT position (flipped from posterior a couple weeks ago, thank goodness. All that time on my hands and knees paid off!).

To be honest, though, I am getting a little anxious to meet the little one. I'm just SO excited! I haven't been feeling that well today, so maybe it's my body's way of telling me to slow down and take it easy. (We've been on the go the past two days, which I'll blog about next). I guess we'll just wait and see!

Weebu's Rainbow Diaper Stash!

This might seem a bit silly to some of you, but humor me. I've been working really hard on Weebu's diaper stash, both dying diapers as well as constantly on the prowl for a good bargain (since I can't bring myself to pay full price for something Baby will only poo in). And I'm SO pleased with how it all came together. The bottom 2 are made by me. I hope to make a few more using the Goodness Gracious pattern like the one on the right.) The whole stash (minus a few plain PFs and my new longies): You'll note a baby hat and socks in the last picture. Consider that a sneak peek of a future post. Both are handmade and purchased on Etsy. I can not wait to try them on Weebu! I'll write more about them later, since they deserve a whole post to themselves!
