Drinking applesauce!

Patty (from Pancakes Gone Awry) commented on my post about Isaiah's OT report with the suggestion of drinking applesauce through a straw as fun oral-motor sensory activity.

I finally remembered to get some applesauce and we gave it a try yesterday. It was a BIG hit with both Isaiah and Abbie. A bonus is that it makes much less of a mess, so less dribbles for me to clean up, and less chance of Isaiah flipping out over getting dirty.

(Yes, we use small mason jars for glasses, not just as an alternative to plastic storage containers. They are the perfect size for little hands, and we've yet to have one break!)

I like your blog! I just read back a little ways to check out why the need for an OT.
Your kids are adorable!
I wore my third and loved it! Also, my sister is an OT. She works for the public schools. She does amazing things to help kids. I am glad you are having success through your OT.

What a coincidence! My friend JUST walked out the door and was talking about types of things we can do for our children that will strengthen their oral muscles for speech! She suggested exactly what you just wrote about! Another idea that was given to us was to have our son chew gum with his mouth closed for 15 seconds. I tried it as well with him...it's not as easy as it sounds!
Great picture!
(Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment about your Christmas tree)! You can edit this out of my comment if you want!
